I’m disappointed in myself.

futurehealthfreak:

I’ve been eating so good quality-wise but not quantity-wise. I’ve been eating veggies, fruits, and eggs. No grains, no processed foods, no milk products. The past week and a half at least, I’m assuming I’ve been around a 550 daily calorie range…. I can’t seem to make myself eat more and it’s annoying.

Maybe try eating a couple potatoes or avocadoes?

I’m not sure what you cut out of your diet exactly (because I know it’s different per person), but I still eat a few potatoes here and there (for my eating habits, I try to stick to one ingredient foods and make everything more complex myself by mixing/cooking the ingredients).

A good size baked potato with skin has a chunk of calories to it. If you don’t eat potatoes because of the carbs, at least avocados are higher calorie, delish, and are a good fat.

Anon plz, I’ve already heard it all.

I like when people use “men working longer, harder, more dangerous jobs” thing as proof that they’re marginalized by society while completely ignoring the fact that they’re almost exclusively granted the opportunity to work those longer harder hours because women are still thought of as weak, incapable, and in need of protection. The best example is probably the American military, even if women want to put in the blood sweat and tears that it takes to rise to the top and get all the great promotions they can’t because the United States still holds onto that idea that letting a woman fight like any of her male peers would cause the country to crumble.
If women weren’t consistently thought of as weak, in need of protection, and good for nothin’ but babymakin’, there wouldn’t be any discrepancy when it came to the draft, who gets to ride in the lifeboat, child custody, and police brutality either! Funny how equality for women means equality for men too!
I know a lot of people talk about the wage gap without really knowing what it entails, thinking it just means “on average men make more money”. The most commonly used accurate example would probably be “the woman is the ‘secretary’ the man is the ‘administrative assistant”, identical duties, different salaries. My own brush with this was the first job I ever had, as a janitor one summer. They hired three students for the summer, me, another girl, and one guy. By virtue of being a dude, the guy was designated more capable somehow, given a different title and an extra buck or two an hour.
The idea was “having a dick makes you more qualified to use heavier machinery, and that means you deserve more cash”, and it meant that he would get to use things like the riding lawn mower, the rug doctor, and the floor polisher while the other girl and myself swept, mopped, and scrubbed things by hand. After maybe the second week on the job he broke his arm roughhousing with his brother or something like that, and was only able to complete tasks he could do one-handed. This did nothing to change his apparent “stronger and deserving of more pay” status, so the rest of the summer was full of fun adventures like the time he drove the riding mower over a stump and broke it, leaving the other girl and I to finish his landscaping with push mowers (that he couldn’t push due to his broken arm). Or the time he came down to have a nap in the room I was cleaning because his only job was to shampoo the rug when I was finished.
Believe me, had the requirements for the “harder” job been something beyond “Has Y chromosome” I would have loved to have taken the responsibility. The girl I was working with probably would have to. Honestly, she was probably the most physically capable of the three of us.

^ Although true that women are often descriminated against, studies actually show that women statiscally don’t like doing the types of jobs that men do that make more money. No, this is not true for ALL women— some do prefer jobs that are seen as “traditionally male”.
I went to a presentation by a feminist who spoke about the differences of men and women, how they have many biological advantages. She went on to say that across the world, statistically women have said that they would prefer to take jobs that have more social communication (such as medical jobs) if given the choice (regardless of pay; meaning if they were to make as much as they wanted).*
Note: Though statistics have shown this, it is not true in all cases. There are women and men who do not fit them. INDIVIDUALITY.
* @_@ Counterinuitively, the fact that women and men DO gravitate to certain jobs, does perpetuate stereotypes against those who don’t match up to the majority in the statistics— which does lead to discrimination against the minority for both men and women (ex. Female engineer, or Male nurse).
The jobs/hours that are USUALLY (as shown by polling) more favorable to men make more money. An example would be jobs in politics (in the US, winning in politics is completely all or nothing). Men have shown to take more interest in jobs that have risk, where as women often choose jobs that offer stability.
Women CAN do the jobs that men can do. Although studies have shown men to have better upperbody strength, women have more endurance to do these jobs in the long run. Both women and men are built to do strenuous jobs. The problem with women making less is that the jobs women usually prefer pay less.
In the United States, people are very economically driven, but the more money is distributed among the jobs that are high risk, take longer (or later) hours, are under more rough conditions, and/or have less social involvement. I’m not saying that women won’t work with these things— it’s just been statistically shown that if money weren’t an issue most wouldn’t want choose jobs like that (there are exceptions).
Since the world is a very MONEY DRIVEN place, money isn’t divided among jobs so that people can do just what they love to do most and make ends meet. Especially in the US, people are raised to believe that MONEY is what you want. GOTTA HAVE MORE OF IT TO BE HAPPY.
If it was my way, I would have more money put into jobs that usually make less, and are women dominated: such as teaching and jobs in the medical industry.
People should be able to do what they love and be happy without worrying about money.

ok so today at fanime
like right outside of the convention these mega christians came and started protesting against gays and how they’re trying to be something they’re not and how we’re all sinning because we’re all dressing up as things we’re not and whatever
and then gamzee got in this tiny truck and slowly rode in front of the protesters and it was glorious and was probably the best thing that happened all day
